John Cahir

Dr John Cahir is a Partner in the Firm’s IP & Technology Group. His practice covers both contentious and non-contentious aspects of intellectual property, information technology, data protection and pharmaceutical regulation.

John has extensive experience in advising domestic and international clients on the creation, commercialisation and enforcement of intellectual property rights both in Ireland and the European Union.

He is recommended in both Chambers Global (2008, 2009 and 2010) and the Legal 500 (2008 and 2010), where he is described as a “rising star”.

John sits on the committee of the Irish Copyright Association and the Irish branch of AIPPI and is a part-time lecturer in intellectual property law on University College Dublin’s LLM programme. He is a regular speaker at conferences in Ireland, the UK, Europe and the United States and is widely published in both trade and academic journals.

John holds a PhD from Queen Mary, University of London, where he was awarded the Herchel Smith doctoral fellowship. John is also a registered trade mark agent.
