Duncan is head of the Firm’s Employment Law Group at A&L Goodbody. He has considerable experience having practiced exclusively in the area of employment law and industrial relations in multiple jurisdictions.
Experience
He advises both public and private sector employers on both contentious and non contentious matters. Duncan has developed close working relationships at the highest level with clients and provides strategic advice on restructuring, reorganisation and general employment related matters. He regularly appears in Employment Law Fora, including the Rights Commissioner Service, the Equality Tribunal, the Labour Court, the Employment Appeals Tribunal, the Circuit Court, the High Court and Supreme Court. He also advises the public sector on administrative law matters and has regularly appeared in the High Court in high profile Judicial Review proceedings. Duncan also advises on partnership disputes and has acted for partnerships in mediated settlements and in proceedings in the High Court.

Duncan speaks regularly on employment and industrial relations matters at conferences for organisations such as the Public Affairs Institute, Legal Island, the Law Society and other professional bodies. He co-authored “Employment Law in Ireland” and has written articles for specialist legal publications. He often provides comment on current employment issues in the national media. Duncan was involved in the establishment of the Law Society Employment Law diploma and now lectures on the course and to law student on the Law Society’s Professional Practice Courses. He is also a member of the European Employment Lawyers Association and the Employment Lawyers Association of Ireland.
